Olivia, a young woman living abroad, returns to her hometown in Mexico in the hope of reconnecting with her past.

In a peripheral zone of Mexico City, the collection of money from merchants and residents of the area is an everyday occurrence. On a sunny sunday, in a housing unit located in one of these areas, a merchant has failed to pay, and the sicarios have come to give him an ultimatum.

By drawing upon the spiritual iconography of the Bété people and other tribal groups in the Ivory Coast, the film examines the divine female figure in West African sculpture. These forms, traditionally found in wooden and bronze sculptures, are translated into animation through charcoal drawings and frame-by-frame relief engraving on copper.

Set among unused long takes from Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Frank Capra, 1939), the film breaks traditional narrative flow as a stand-in wanders the Lincoln Memorial. Lost between monumental pillars, he repeatedly freezes before Lincoln’s statue, trapped in a ritual without progression.

A poignant portrayal of dance as a transformative force in Joseph’s life, contrasted with the challenges of living with disability. The film expands the idea of dance as a universal language and a powerful space for expression.

Drawing its name from the ancient ordering of the Arabic alphabet, each letter is danced and embodied by Salma Zahore among the ruins of Barcelona. Blending fashion, music, poetry, and performance, the film reclaims a language often misunderstood, transforming it into a celebration of identity, resilience, and artistic freedom.
